About Alison
Alison, the heart and soul behind The Piglets, is a lifelong Sussex local and passionate steward of the land. Coming from a farming family in Climping, she has a deep-rooted commitment to eco-sustainability and plays an active role to help manage the coastal erosion that affects the family farm.

Alison has lived and worked on a flower farm in Kenya, but Sussex is home. She's an experienced business owner who also runs Woodpecker Camping field nearby – offering groups and families more flexibility in how they stay.

A host who truly goes the extra mile, Alison is known for her personal touches – including picking guests up from the local station when needed.

The idea for The Piglets was born during the Covid pandemic when Alison took on the ambitious task of transforming the farm’s former historic pig styes into four stylish, self-contained ‘barnlets’. With a strong respect for the site’s heritage, she was careful to preserve the original footprint of the buildings. The generous proportions of these individual styes lent themselves perfectly to wide, accessible doorways and step-free layouts – making them ideal for guests with limited mobility.

Each barnlet has been personally styled by Alison to reflect the nearby coast, combining modern comforts with calming, seaside-inspired interiors. From concept to creation, every detail was carefully chosen by her to balance luxury, accessibility, and a sense of place.

Alison shares her life with three beloved dogs, two lively cocker spaniels and the boss of all of them, a toy poodle – so naturally, The Piglets is proudly dog-friendly. Sustainability is woven into the very fabric of The Piglets, with solar panels and a ground source heat pump helping the site to be environmentally conscious.
